This set is meticulously crafted to embody excellence and tradition. Conceived by our seasoned master craftsmen, who bring decades of kendo experience and a keen understanding of customer needs, this flagship set is the epitome of machine-stitched kendō-gu technology.
The Men, with its 6mm machine stitch and #8000 grade cotton, is dyed with aizome for a classic look. Made in Japan, it is ingeniously designed to be lightweight, incorporating an IBB Duralumin men-gane (with reinforced titanium bars) for enhanced strength without the burden of extra weight.
The Kote, expertly crafted in Nara, Japan, are precision-filled with deer hair and meticulously hand-stitched, offering an optimal grip and a tailor-made feel. For durability, these kote are made with Bushu-Ichi's '40 Kan' grade fabric across the futon, and Fujioka aizome (indigo dye) deer leather kobushi. Naturally, these premium kote are also made with the now world-famous 'Kazutaka Cut' for an unmatched grip straight out of the box. Our unique approach is to make these kote without the 'kazari' stitching across the knuckles, as this reduces the overall weight of the kote and increases flexibility in the fingers. (You can opt to have 'kazari' added as per your own preferences).
The Dō, customizable and assembled in Japan, comes with a synthetic imitation 50 piece dou-dai (with custom colours available) and a choice of Japanese made Kurozan leather or indigo-dyed cow leather for the dou-mune. (A range of custom dou-mune designs is also available free of charge).
The Tare, is made with a Fujioka deer leather 'kumokata' design and 5 bars across each panel. Featuring #8000 grade cotton and dyed with aizome, it fits securely around the waste and provides maximum protection.
Each piece of this set is proudly made/assembled* in Japan by our kendoka craftsmen. It has been carefully designed to address the needs and requests of our customers to date, making it one of the highest-quality machine-stitched sets of kendō-gu on the market today. Buying a Custom Set
As a bespoke creation, the Kazutaka Signature set provides a level of fit and comfort unrivaled by similarly priced off-the-shelf items. Constructed from scratch for each customer, please anticipate a lead time of 6 months from payment to dispatch. Due to the bespoke nature of this kendogu, precise body measurements are essential. For guidance on how to measure yourself for this custom-made set, please follow our detailed instructions. To enhance the custom fit of our handcrafted kote, we've incorporated two additional measurements, 'L' and 'M'. For accurate measurement instructions, please refer to our guide. To the best of your ability, please upload one document (i.e. PDF) with all measurement photos attached. We recommend that you seek the help of others when measuring and taking photos. If the craftsmen are unsure about the place/position of the measurements, we will double check with you before commencing with the build (you don't buy custom gear everyday, so we do everything we can to be thorough with sizes and measurements!)
* The Men, Kote, and Tare of this set are completely made in Japan. The Dou is assembled in Japan.
